APPLE HILL – SD&G O.P.P. have laid an additional charge against a South Glengarry man in connection to a deadly single vehicle crash in North Stormont this summer.

Police announced today (Oct. 21) they have charged 25-year-old Kevin Gent of South Glengarry with impaired “operation causing death.”

The charge may sound similar to another earlier this year when Gent was charged in September with dangerous operation causing death. But this charge specifically deals with alcohol or drug consumption.

The new charge (Section 320.14 (3)) is part of the new federal government statutes for impaired driving, Bill C-46, which were brought into effect last year.

Gent will appear in a Cornwall court on Nov. 28, 2019.

Logan Sunday, 18, of South Glengarry died on July 20 around 4:30 a.m. after a car she was a passenger in left County Road 43, between County Road 20 and Pigeon Hill Road, and rolled in the ditch.

The maximum penalty for impaired operation causing death is 10 years in prison.
