CORNWALL – A section of a major Cornwall street is closed for an emergency water main repair.

Cornwall’s municipal works department closed the eastbound lanes of Ninth Street at Pitt Street at noon today (Wednesday) for the broken water main.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on Pitt Street, then east on Seventh Street and north on Sydney Street to get back to Ninth Street.

Westbound traffic is unaffected.

“We apologize for this inconvenience and we hope to have this area restored as soon as possible,” Cornwall Municipal Works Safety Supervisor Tommy Sauve said in a statement.

Sauve said the closure will likely last until sometime Thursday afternoon, depending on the weather.
