CORNWALL – A motorcycle rider has some serious road rash after a collision between his bike and car at the intersection of Fourth Street and York Street.

The collision happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Cornwall Police Service, Cornwall Fire Service and Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services were all on the scene.

Pictures from the scene showed the motorcycle rider had badly skinned knees but was sitting upright on the curb and talking with a police officer. Witness Richard Pilon said the man was being treated by paramedics but appeared to be bruised but okay.

The motorcycle rider was transported to hospital by ambulance as a precautionary measure. A police spokesman told CNW the car driver was being ticketed for a traffic violation.

Pilon has long called for some intersection control and Fourth Street West and York Street, such as a three-way stop or a light, after a number of serious collisions.
