CORNWALL – A Cornwall manufacturing company has launched a grant program to help give future women business leaders some help in their journey.

Laminacorr Industries will be giving three grants to high school graduates in Cornwall. They will be based on a letter writing campaign and reviewed by a committee.

Students will have to outline their future goals and be enrolled in a college or university in a business field or be enrolled in a business project.

First, second and third place bursaries will be $1,000, $750 and $350.

Laminacorr President Guy Robichaud wants to grow the number of women-led businesses in Canada, citing Statistics Canada data showing only one-sixth of Canadian enterprises are majority-owned by women.

Letters will be accepted before June 7 at scomtois@laminacorr.com or mailed to the office.
