CORNWALL – Cornwall firefighters had to put out a fire late Sunday afternoon in the tractor unit of a tractor-trailer at a local trucking company.

They were called around 5:15 p.m. Sunday for the fire in the parking lot of Tank Truck Transport at 1300 Rosemount Avenue.

Platoon Chief Kelly Michaud tells Cornwall Newswatch the fire in the first tractor unit was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived on scene.

β€œIt spread to a second one (truck). A little damage to the second one. The first one was fully engulfed when they arrived. And they checked the building for any hot spots and everything was okay in the building,” Michaud said.

The tractor units didn’t have trailers attached to them and were lined up in the parking lot, close to the building. Michaud said there was equipment on site that was able to pull the flaming truck away from the building.

There were no injuries.

The cause is undetermined at this point but arson is not suspected.

Platoon Chief Rob Cotnam was on duty during the Sunday fire.
