Freezing rain warning for SD&G

Update 3:18 p.m. Thursday: The rainfall warning has since been expanded to all of SD&G with revised rainfall amounts of 25-50 millimeters (0.98-1.96 inches) by Friday night.

SD&G – A freezing rain warning is in effect for SD&G as freezing rain is expected to fall across the region tonight (Thursday).

Environment Canada says it will start as freezing rain before it changes over to heavy rain later in the evening.

The moisture-laden system from the Gulf of Mexico is expected to dump 20-40 millimeters (0.78-1.57 inches) of rain by Friday morning, which could causing water pooling on area roads.

There is also the risk of localized flooding.

There’s a rainfall warning for areas around Winchester and Newington.
