CORNWALL – Two young adults had their rides yanked off the road Halloween night for excessive speeding on Highway 138.

A police officer caught the two vehicles on radar in North Stormont around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at 140 kilometers an hour. The speed limit is 80.

While the drivers were caught in the same location at exactly the same time and the same speed, SD&G O.P.P. Const. Tylor Copeland wasn’t sure whether the drivers were running together or knew each other.

The Cornwall drivers – 18 and 20 years old – had their driver’s licences suspended for a week and their vehicles impounded for seven days under Ontario’s street racing law. They are both charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
