Lost wallet leads to alleged Cornwall fraud

CORNWALL – It’s one thing to lose your wallet but another to be the victim of credit card fraud at the hands of someone who finds it.

That’s what allegedly happened over the weekend at a Second Street East business, Cornwall police said.

A man had lost his wallet on Saturday and “later noticed several transactions had since been made on his credit card without his permission” once he got it back.

After a police investigation, a 40-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested and charged with fraud under $5,000 and using a stolen credit card.

Her name was not released as the police records still have to be sworn before the Ontario Court of Justice.
