CORNWALL – A strike or lockout of most of the city’s front-line workers will happen on May 17 if no agreement can be reached.
CUPE announced today (May 1) that the Ministry of Labour has endorsed its no-board report, setting a strike or lockout deadline at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Around 400 full-time workers, representing outside jobs, the Cornwall Public Library and paramedics with the Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services have been without a contract since 2016 and 2015.
Workers at Glen-Stor-Dun Lodge asked for a no-board report, but their matter will go to binding arbitration because they are declared an essential service.
Paramedics will be in a limited service situation if a strike or lockout happens.
The union says it’s offered every day except one between now and May 17 to meet with the City of Cornwall.
