HALIFAX, N.S. – Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Francis Drouin is the subject of a sexual assault investigation in downtown Halifax.
While police there haven’t named him specifically, Drouin issued a statement to the media and fellow MPs confirming the allegation is against him.
Drouin, 34, says no charges have been laid and that he is cooperating with authorities.
The Liberals were holding a weekend convention in Halifax and the alleged assault is said to have happened at a downtown bar.
A party source told the Toronto Star a woman has accused him of groping her backside at a bar near the convention site on Saturday.
The alleged incident came less than a day after Liberals took part in a convention seminar entitled “From #MeToo to Never Again: Creating Safe Work Environments.”
