Update 11:30 a.m. Saturday: Winter storm warning now in effect for western SD&G. Latest here.
SD&G – Get ready for a mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain this weekend in what Canada’s weather agency says could be a “high impact” storm.
Environment Canada has a special weather statement in place for SD&G and much of southern and eastern Ontario as a complex weather system moves into the province. As of Thursday afternoon, there were no weather watches or warnings in place.
Snow and ice pellets are expected to start tomorrow night (Friday) in SD&G and continue until Saturday night with “significant accumulations possible,” the agency said.
Adding to further misery, the precipitation is expected to change to several hours of freezing rain at some point on Sunday.
As of this afternoon (Thursday), Environment Canada couldn’t nail down exactly how much rain or snow we could get and what areas of Ontario would be affected the most.
