SD&G – Paramedics with the Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Services will have a familiar face at the helm.

Bill Lister has been appointed chief, the City of Cornwall announced Thursday.

He’s no stranger to the paramedic service, have spent 15 years as deputy chief before a stint in the city’s human resources department as its manager of employee relations.

Lister has a biology degree from the University of Western Ontario and a diploma in pre-hospital emergency care from Humber College.

“I am excited about this new opportunity and I look forward to building on the service’s proud tradition of service and professionalism,” Lister said.

Lister takes over for Myles Cassidy who left in June 2017 to be the Ottawa Paramedic Service chief. Since that time, the position has been managed by Acting Chief Wayne Markell.

Lister will also oversee the $13.2 million EMS budget this year.
