AKWESASNE – Police have positively identified a body found in a marsh in Snye, Quebec.
It’s Donald “Do” Johnson, 31, who had been missing since Feb. 9.
“Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones,” Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Communications Manager Shannon Roundpoint said.
The discovery was made around 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) during an aerial search by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police.
The body was found in a marshy area near Wade Lafrance Road in the Quebec portion of Akwesasne (Snye), about 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of Hogansburg, N.Y.
A large area has been taped off and a police investigation continues.
Police are waiting on an autopsy and toxicology results to determine the cause of Johnson’s death.
Johnson had been one of two missing men. Kenneth Leaf, 50, disappeared Jan. 13 and his whereabouts are still unknown.
