CORNWALL – For the second time in as many days, city police are dealing with a wayward moose within the city limits.
Cornwall police posted on their Facebook around 6:30 a.m. Friday that a moose was in the area of the Cornwall Community Hospital on McConnell Avenue.
“Officers are attempting to keep it safe. Please drive carefully,” the posting said, adding that people should call 613-933-5000 extension 3 if they saw the animal.
The moose is deeper within the city limits than one yesterday (Thursday) near Highway 401.
Police were seen around Optimist Park ushering the moose back into the bush.
An officer was forced to shoot and kill the animal on Thursday near Blessed Sacrament Drive in order to protect the public as the animal was heading toward Highway 401, police said.
