Funeral Thursday for Cornwall priest

CORNWALL – A funeral service will be held Thursday for a long-serving priest with the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall.

Rev. Bernard Cameron died Sunday at the Cornwall Community Hospital.

He was 84.

Cameron was born in St. Andrews West and was part of a family of 10 children. He was ordained a priest in 1958.

In a statement, the diocese said “Father Bernie” had not been well for the last couple of years.

Cameron had spent more than 59 years in the priesthood, serving at parishes in Williamstown, Cornwall, Ingleside, Long Sault, Lochiel, Greenfield, Apple Hill and Monkland.

Visitation with family is happening at the St. Andrew’s Parish from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today (Wednesday).

Cameron will lie in repose at St. Andrew Catholic Church Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until noon before the funeral service at 2 p.m.
