AKWESASNE, N.Y. – Almost two years into her job at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Shannon Keel is already being recognized for her efforts.
The general manager will be honoured as an Emerging Leader of Gaming during a global gaming conference in Las Vegas, Nev. on Wednesday.
The award at the 2017 Group and Global Gaming Expo Conference recognizes dynamic young professionals in the gaming industry.
According to a casino spokesperson, she’s being recognized for her work in growing the Canadian market which was struggling when she came on board. Keel introduced Canadian money slots and Canadian chips at the table games.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort (Mohawk Gaming Enterprises LLC) named Keel as their new GM in November 2015.
Keel has over a decade of high level casino resort management experience, according to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe.
