Strike-lockout date set for St. Lawrence College

KINGSTON – A date of Oct. 15 has been set for a possible strike or lockout at Ontario’s colleges, including St. Lawrence College.

A conciliator in contract talks set the date Thursday between the college employer council and OPSEU after the union asked for a no-board report last week.

Either side has to give five days notice before a strike or lockout can proceed.

That means job action could come after 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 15.

OPSEU represents professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians.

There are two dozen public colleges in Ontario, including St. Lawrence.
