CORNWALL – With a new look and mascot – a pig named “Optimist Swine” – the 2017 edition of Cornwall Ribfest is kicking off this afternoon (Thursday) in Lamoureux Park.
This is the sixth year for the event but the first time it’s run by the Optimist Club of Cornwall.
In previous years it was the Cornwall Seaway Lions Club.
All proceeds from this year’s event will go back to local youth activities – a focal point for the Optimist Club.
There will be a number of musical groups over the four days, a midway and – of course – ribs from six ribbers!
There will be a special midway today (Thursday) for children with special needs (no loud music and user-controlled speeds) from noon until 2 p.m. with a $10 donation. The donation is being handed over to Rachel’s Kids by the Optimist Club.
Ribfest runs 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. today, 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
You can get more information at the Cornwall Ribfest website.
