MORRISBURG – It turns out, it won’t cost taxpayers $50,000 to redevelop the Municipality of South Dundas website.

In fact, it’s expected to cost less than half.

While council had earmarked $50,000 in the 2017 budget, it’s expected to approve a contract tonight (Tuesday) with Red Chair Web Design for $21,076.

There were 10 companies that submitted a proposal to redevelop the website and that was narrowed down to the top three based on an evaluation by a third-party company with expertise in website design requests for proposal (RFP).

The cost includes hosting www.southdundas.com, maintenance and support, staff training on the new website and data migration from the old website,

There are three main issues being addressed with the new build: an improved calendar of events, a searchable bylaw section and the ability to accept payments for services like program registration or permits.

Tonight’s meeting at the South Dundas Municipal Center starts at 5 p.m. (earlier time).
