SD&G – Another round of heavy rain is expected to start tonight (Thursday) and carry on right through the weekend.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning this afternoon for SD&G with 30-50 millimeters (1.18-1.96 inches) expected over the next three-and-a-half days.
A weather system is expected to “stall over the region” for the next three days leading to the long period of rain.
Local conservation authorities are already warning about localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The City of Cornwall said it’s taken “preparedness measures” and will be monitoring its sewer system.
People with flooding questions or concerns can call the municipal works office at 613-932-5354.
The wet weather has indefinitely delayed the opening of city ball diamonds and sports fields.
