Gilchrist to speak at sports awards dinner

CORNWALL – An award-winner broadcaster, who has called 3,000 Ontario Hockey League games, will be the guest speaker for the 53rd Benson Cornwall Lions Club Sports Awards Dinner.

Jim Gilchrist, known as the Dean of OHL broadcasting, will be at the event on May 10 at the Best Western.

The sports awards dinner recognizes youth, coaches and volunteers in the community for their their athletic and academic achievement.

Among the awards is the top honour – the Jacques Richard Trophy – for the top sports personality.

That went last year to 15-year-old kickboxer Emily Vallance.
