CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is facing a half dozen charges after a violent home invasion on Montreal Road.

Cornwall police say a man, masking his identity, forced his way into a home around 5:30 a.m. on Monday (Feb. 6) while carrying a metal bar and started fighting with the resident inside.

The suspect got away with the victim’s cell phone, police said.

He was arrested yesterday (Feb. 7) and charged with robbery with violence, break and enter, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence and breach of a court order for having a weapon.

Nathaniel Gatien, 30, is being held for a bail hearing.

Const. Dan Cloutier told CNW the victim and the accused knew each other.

The victim was not injured in the ordeal.
