CORNWALL – Investigators have determined that smoking is the probable cause of a deadly fire on St. Felix Street in Cornwall.

Firefighters were called at 12:26 a.m. on Boxing Day (Monday) to a single family dwelling at 319 St. Felix Street.

According to the Cornwall Fire Department, the man inside the home was already dead when they entered the building.

The man’s identity has not been released.

This is the latest in a rash of fires in Cornwall – three in four days.

Two buildings went up in flames at Gulf Street and Fourth Street West on Christmas Eve and another apartment in a six-plex was damaged in a fire on Friday night (Dec. 23).
