CORNWALL – A triplex in the city’s east end has been gutted by fire.

Firefighters were called to 215 Danis Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Everyone had exited the building by the time firefighters were on scene, who were battling the fire and putting out hot spots for well over fours.

The Cornwall-SDG Paramedic Service was also on site as a precaution.

At one point, the flames shot up near the tree tops and could be seen several blocks away.

Fire investigators and the City of Cornwall mobile command center are on site today (Friday) looking into the cause of the fire and where it may have started.

It’s believed that one pet – a dog – did perish in the flames.
