CORNWALL – The Cornwall Nationals started out strong but ended up losing 8-7 to the Watertown Wolves Saturday night.
Cornwall had a 5-0 lead in the match up at the civic complex but the Wolves fought back as they took the game before 786 fans.
Scoring for Cornwall were Joel Trottier with a pair and singles from Sylvester Bzdyl, Justin Rutley, Anthony Mazagno, MJ Graham and Jeff Legue.
The Watertown team also had its problems off the ice, leading to a short bench, as five players (four from Russia and one from Belarus) weren’t able to cross the border because they didn’t have working visas.
The Nationals’ FHL home opener is Sunday (Oct. 30) as Cornwall welcomes the Danville Dashers.
