SD&G – You will find a few closures for the August Civic Day Monday holiday across the region.
But there won’t be as many because the August holiday is on a statutory holiday under the Ontario Retail Business Holidays Act.
Some retail stores will be open though it’s probably best to phone ahead to make sure.
In Cornwall and the six SD&G townships, municipal government offices will be closed.
Banks and government offices are also shuttered.
Canada Post is closed and there’s no mail delivery.
Cornwall Square will be open 11 a.m until 5 p.m. for the Civic Holiday.
Garbage and recycling won’t be picked up on Monday – it will be done Tuesday. Collection for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. The city landfill is also closed Monday.
Cornwall Transit is not running and the office is closed.
The Aquatic Center and the Benson Center will be open for regular programs.
The Cornwall Public Library and the SD&G County Library system will be closed Aug. 1.
The only LCBO location open in the area on Monday will be at the Brookdale Mall from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Beer Store will have its Sydney Street location open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
