CORNWALL – The provincial government has identified three locations in Cornwall for future charging stations for electric vehicles.
The locations were unveiled Wednesday as part of a $20 million roll out of 250 locations across the province, through a series of public and private sector partnerships.
The Cornwall locations are:
- Tim Hortons, 81 Tollgate Road West, Level 3 charging station
- McDonald’s, 1301 Brookdale Avenue, Level 3 charging station
- St. Hubert, 705 Brookdale Avenue, Level 3 charging station
The Level 3 or “fast” chargers allow quick charging of most electric vehicles in as little as a half-hour, according to CAA.
The entire network should be online by the end of March 2017.
According to the website of the company (Electric Circuit) partnering to build the St. Hubert location, it charges consumers $10 per hour, billed by the minute, for its high speed charging stations.
The other two locations are be built by KSI Koben Systems.
Cornwall already has a number of charging stations, including St. Lawrence College and the Best Western Parkway Inn.
There’s also a proprietary Tesla supercharging station at Ramada Cornwall.
