CORNWALL – One driver was taken to hospital as a precaution after a two vehicle crash at Fourth and York Streets.

The t-bone crash between a Buick Enclave and a Saturn Astra happened just before 11 a.m.

Paramedics and firefighters worked to remove the man from the Astra, who was taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked over.

The driver had a history of back problems, police said.

The couple in the Buick Enclave were shaken up but otherwise unhurt.

The situation could have been a lot worse because a cyclist was riding in the area and had to slam on the brakes to avoid the crash, Acting Sgt. Derek Duschesne told Cornwall Newswatch.

Police are still investigating but preliminary indications are the car went through a stop sign on York Street.
