CORNWALL – City native Newell Brown will be spending more time behind the bench of the Arizona Coyotes.
The team announced Thursday (May 26) it has signed a multi-year contract extension with Brown as the team’s assistant coach.
“Newell is an excellent coach and has done a great job overseeing our power play. He has been a valuable addition to Dave Tippett’s coaching staff and we are all thrilled to have him back,” Coyotes GM John Chayka told 3TV News.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brown has worked three seasons with the Arizona NHL team, which led the league in NHL power-play goals at 35 and ranked sixth on home power-play last season.
Prior to the Coyotes, Brown was an assistant coach for the Vancouver Canucks for three seasons.
