SOUTH MOUNTAIN – An all-terrain vehicle rider is dead after a collision between his machine and a tractor trailer on County Road 16 in North Dundas.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, south of the County Road 3 intersection, near the hamlet of Baldwins Bridge.
Preliminary results from an O.P.P. technical traffic investigation show the ATV was heading north on the highway when it somehow collided with the oncoming truck on the highway, also known as Brinston Road.
The rider – a 42-year-old man from North Dundas – died at the scene.
The 39-year-old man from Ottawa, driving the tractor trailer, was not hurt.
Police are not releasing the dead man’s identity until relatives are notified.
A section of County Road 16 between County Road 3 and Sandy Row Road remained closed Wednesday night and detours were in place.
