CORNWALL – The Cornwall River Kings lost 5-1 Saturday night against the Jonquiere Marquis.
There were a reported 883 people in the stands of the Ed Lumley Arena as the Marquis clinched first place in the first-round playoff.
The best-of-seven series will being Friday in Jonquiere and the River Kings will host the Marquis in Game 2 at the Civic Complex on Saturday (Mar. 12).
As for one of the River Kings’ players injured in a car crash, Alexandre Gauthier is out of a coma after suffering a head-on collision on Feb. 26.
Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux had the lone goal for Cornwall.
Defencemen William Lacasse and Yan Dumontier left the game with injuries.
