Serious charges withdrawn against Cornwall trucker

BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Charges against a Cornwall truck driver involved in a deadly crash on Highway 401 have been withdrawn.

Ravinder Singh, 25, had been facing charges of dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Instead, Singh was found guilty of a lesser Highway Traffic Act charge of careless driving and ordered to pay a $350 fine, according to radio station CJBQ.

A transport truck had collided with an SUV on Feb. 25, 2015, west of Belleville, Ont.

A 54-year-old woman from Mississauga, who had been in the back seat of the SUV, was hit and died in the crash.

Five other people were hurt.
