CORNWALL – Mayor Leslie O’Shaughnessy has welcomed his second Eastern Ontario counterpart in as many months.
Brockville Mayor David Henderson arrived at city hall Monday, where he signed the city’s book of recognition.
The two then sat down to talk about economic development, budgets and taxation, as well as raising the profile of Eastern Ontario.
Henderson also met with the Cornwall Syrian Refugee Task Force to share some of his experiences with welcoming Syrian refugees in the City of the Thousand Islands.
“Cornwall and Brockville have a lot of things in common beyond our close proximity,” said Mayor O’Shaughnessy. “It was a great opportunity to share ideas and discuss common issues that all municipalities face.”
Just before Christmas, O’Shaughnessy had Prescott Mayor Brett Todd in his office for a brief visit.
“I intend on inviting mayors from other Eastern Ontario cities to visit Cornwall in the coming months so that they can gain a better understanding of our city and all of the great things we have to offer,” O’Shaughnessy said.
