MORRISBURG — South Dundas has hired a new Economic Development Officer. Rob Hunter, will start with the municipality on February 1st.
Hunter had been Economic Development and Communications Officer for the Township of North Dundas for the past four-and-a-half years.
“Mr. Hunter has an extensive background in rural economic development,” said Shannon Geraghty, Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer for South Dundas in a press release issued Jan. 20.
“We are highly impressed by his experience and eager to welcome him to our staff.”
“We’re very grateful for Rob’s service,” stated North Dundas Mayor Eric Duncan. “He got our Economic Development services started in the Township in 2011 and did a great job.”
The economic development position has been vacant since Nicole Sullivan resigned from the post Apr. 23, 2015. Council voted not to fill the position in June 2015. That decision was reversed by council with the position posted in Nov. 2015.
Before his role in North Dundas, Hunter was Executive Director for the Downtown Brockville Business Improvement Association (BIA). He held the same role with the Ontario BIA Association.
Hunter was named 2014 Economic Developer of the Year by the Ontario East Economic Development Commission and holds an Economic Development Certificate from the University of Waterloo. As well, he is a Certified Economic Developer with the Economic Development Association of Canada and the International Economic Development Council.
