Akwesasne man pleads guilty to threatening to hurt cops

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – An Akwesasne man has plead guilty to taking to social media to threaten to injure or kill three Mohawk police officers.

Roy Redeye, 39, who is also from Cortland, entered a plea in a Plattsburgh, N.Y. court this week, according to the Watertown Daily Times.

The conviction on two counts of interstate threats to injure another person could result with a prison sentence up up to five years, a fine up to $250,000 and three years probation.

He was accused of posting threats on Facebook in February to injure and kill a trio of St. Regis Mohawk Tribal officers.

That caught the attention of the local office of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as other law enforcement agencies.

Redeye will be sentenced April 6, 2016.
