CORNWALL – City councillors will convene Friday afternoon to take care of some last-minute business concerning a street closure for pre-Christmas festivities.

The Santa Claus Parade Committee has asked that Montreal Road, from McConnell Avenue to Arthur Street, be closed Saturday (Nov. 21) for a street hockey tournament and family activities.

If approved, the closure would happen from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday.

The 44th annual Santa Claus Parade will start at 5 p.m. at St. Lawrence Intermediate School and proceed down Second Street to Augustus Street, where it will turn south and head to the end of Augustus.

Passengers will be unloaded and taken by bus to the civic complex for awards and hot treats.

This theme of the parade this year is “Christmas Dreams.”

The special council meeting starts at 5 p.m. Friday at city hall.
