CORNWALL – Two city long term care homes will be receiving at least one new nurse practitioner each as part of a provincial announcement.
Heartwood on Eleventh Street East and Sandfield Place on Emma Avenue are among the list of 41 homes across Ontario to receive an NP this fall.
It’s part of a recently announced provincial deal to add 75 attending nurse practitioners to the field over three years.
Nurse practitioners have a variety of functions from assessments and screenings to end-of-life care.
According to the province, the number of nurse practitioners in Ontario has increased to 2,209 in 2014, up seven per cent from the year before.
