Sentencing of former Cornwall cop delayed a month

VALLEYFIELD, Que. – Sentencing for a former Cornwall police officer, who committed sexual acts with minors in Quebec, will be sentenced next month.

Pascal Rossignol was to be sentenced today (Thursday) after earlier pleading guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of procuring sexual services from a person until 18.

He had been facing 10 charges following a two year investigation in Quebec, which started with a complaint in October 2010.

Cornwall police professional standards spokesman, Staff Sgt. Daniel Maille, told Cornwall Newswatch Thursday afternoon, Rossignol was in court but the matter was delayed.

Rossignol resigned from the Cornwall force on May 28, 2015 shortly after pleading guilty.

Rossignol will be back in court Oct. 30 where the matter is expected to be completed, according to Maille.
