AKWESASNE – The lifeless bodies of two males were pulled from the St. Lawrence River Wednesday morning after a Seadoo capsized on the river.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service Marine Unit, patrol officers and the Joint Investigative Team were called to the east end of Cornwall Island around 9:15 a.m.
Dispatchers had received a call saying a personal watercraft with four passengers had capsized.
Marine officers pulled two “unresponsive males” from the water. They were later pronounced dead by the provincial coroner.
Meantime, bystanders had already helped a third passenger out of the water, who was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The driver of the Seadoo was also pulled from the water and he is in hospital with undetermined injuries, police said.
The identities of the victims has not been released.
Akwesasne police say an investigation is ongoing and charges may be pending.
