CHESTERVILLE – Fair goers in North Dundas are gearing up for a weekend of fun times in Chesterville.

The 84th edition of the Chesterville Fair, organized by the Chesterville & District Agricultural Society, starts Thursday night and runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds.

There are some new events including a Battle of the Bands on Thursday night at 8 p.m., with the winner having a one-hour performance at the fair on Sunday.

The Gable Bros. midway will be at the fairgrounds this year, starting Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., with the first two hours reserved for people with disabilities.

Some may remember the company when it came in at the last minute in 2014 to supply rides in Chesterville after the scheduled midway, Billy G. Amusements, didn’t show up.

“Building on the relationship which began in 2014, we are excited about this first year of our agreement with Gable Bros,” said Ag Society President Tina Asselin.

The fair and the midway have signed a three-year agreement through 2017.

The admission to the event – dubbed the small fair with big value – is staying the same as last year at $5 on Friday, $5 and $10 for kids (6 and older) and adults respectively on Saturday. There will be free admission on Sunday.
