
BROCKVILLE – A former teacher from Cornwall is being recognized for her leadership in advancing equitable and inclusive education in her work as a vice principal of program.
Lori Taylor will be receiving the 2015 Mary A. Samuel Harmony Leadership in Education Award, named after human rights advocate Mary A. Samuel.
Taylor co-founded the Queer Ally Alliance (QAA) Club at Thousand Islands Secondary School in Brockville while she was a teacher there.
She’s also been behind the #SEEMYVOICE social media campaign on Twitter, highlighting a range of diversity issues.
Taylor once taught in Cornwall at St. Lawrence High School.
Taylor will receive the award in early November during the 2015 Harmony Awards Gala in Toronto.
