
BROCKVILLE – Student athletes from Glengarry and Dundas took home some hardware from the Upper Canada Track and Field Championships.
In one case, a record was also smashed.
Julia Richard of Char-Lan District High School in Williamstown dominated the senior girls triple jump with a distance of 9.61 meters.
Richard also won the Grade 8 girls 100 meter dash, with a time of 14.15 seconds.
Jayme McPherson of Glengarry District High School in Alexandria won the junior girls high jump, reaching a height of 1.37 meters.
Seaway District High School in Iroquois also was well represented.
Brianna O’Niel took first in the senior girls javelin with a throw of 24.61 meters while Cameryn Broad won in senior girls long jump with a distance of 4.27 meters.
The hometown team, Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) Pirates, won the meet and swept all team titles.
Over 700 student athletes competed Thursday at the event in Brockville.
