
AVONMORE – An Ottawa man is facing criminal charges after a weekend police chase in North Stormont ended in a single vehicle crash.
SD&G O.P.P. tried to stop a pickup truck on Sixth Road around 2 a.m. Saturday during a criminal investigation when the driver fled, resulting in the officers giving chase.
The truck left the road and rolled near Dewar Road and County Road 15, injuring the driver.
Steven Charette, 25, of Ottawa is charged with assault, uttering threats, dangerous driving, flight from police, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with a court order.
Charette was held for a bail hearing in a Cornwall court today (June 8).
The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is also probing the circumstances behind the case.
