LONG SAULT/INGLESIDE – South Stormont firefighters had to put out a small grass fire on the edge of Hoople Bay Friday night.
Fire crews were called around 9:30 p.m. to a section of the eastern shoreline on the south side of County Road 2, across from the entrance to Bayview Drive.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames and could be seen using flashlights shortly after to check for any embers.
County Road 2 was down to one lane of traffic for a brief period but has since reopened.
The cause of the fire is not known though a spent firework was found across the highway near the entrance to Bayview Drive.
Firefighters packed up and left the scene just after 10 p.m.
