Tractor trailer tips on Highway 401 on-ramp

CORNWALL – Drivers wanting to head west on Highway 401 in Cornwall had to find an interchange other than Brookdale Avenue late Monday afternoon.

This, after a tractor-trailer tipped over on the ramp, partially spilling its load of cable spools around 5:30 p.m.

Cornwall firefighters, city police, SD&G O.P.P. and Cornwall EMS were on the scene.

Police say the truck driver from Quebec was not injured.

Firefighters had to throw down some absorbent to clean up an antifreeze spill from the motor.

The ramp was expected to reopen around 9:30 p.m. after the site and the tractor-trailer load was cleaned up.
