CORNWALL – A celebration of Judy Bobka’s life will be held Saturday at the Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School (CCVS).
The advocate and champion of the secondary school on Sydney Street died Thursday at Cornwall Hospice after a brief illness.
She was in her mid-70s.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held in the CCVS cafetorium April 18 with a meet and greet from 1-2 p.m. followed by a one-hour ceremony starting at 2 p.m.
The following is a statement from the Bobka family:
Thank you to everyone for the support during the months of Judy’s illness, hospitalization as well as in these first days after her passing.
Judy was someone who brought people together, cared passionately for her community and worked tirelessly (usually behind the scenes). She had an impeccable memory for people, stories and events and we wanted to find a way to capture and share some of the wonderful ‘Judy’ memories that have been coming to us.
These stories have been giving us (her family) great comfort as we remember the vibrant, wonderful life Judy led, rather than the difficult last few months of her illness. We wanted to share these with her friends, colleagues, neighbours, former students and others who cared about her.
A website has been launched, www.TributetoJudyBobka.ca, where everyone touched by Judy can share memories, stories and pictures of their experiences with her, so that we can keep Judy alive in our hearts.
