North Glengarry burglar arrested after extensive police search

DALKEITH – A homeowner catches a burglary in progress at a North Glengarry home.

SD&G O.P.P. say a man was spotted inside the County Road 34 home by the homeowner around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police were called and the O.P.P. Canine and Emergency Response Team were brought in a cordoned off the area.

A section of County Road 34 between Concession 8 (Laggan) and County Road 24 was also closed to traffic as officers scoured the area.

Around 5:30 p.m. officers had their man, arrested without incident.

The section of highway between Laggan and County Road 24 has reopened as of 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A man from Mississauga, 27, is charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.

He’s behind held with a promise to appear in court in Cornwall on Monday.
