Monkland woman accused of welfare fraud

CORNWALL – A North Stormont woman has been arrested after a welfare fraud investigation.

City police allege the suspect had forged receipts and failed to notify the Ontario Works Resource Center of changes to her living arrangements and income.

The investigation revealed there were overpayments totaling $10,743.48 between January 2013 and March 2014.

Carrie Anderson, 24, of Monkland is facing charges of fraud under $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and uttering forged documents.

She was arrested Thursday and released with a promise to appear in a Cornwall court March 17, 2015.
