CORNWALL – A driver was taken to hospital Wednesday afternoon after a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 401.

An SUV landed in the ditch about about 60 meters (200 feet) past the McConnell Avenue on-ramp in the eastbound lanes around 4:45 p.m.

SD&G O.P.P., Cornwall firefighters and Cornwall EMS were on the scene shortly after.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to hospital by ambulance for observation.

There were heavy flurries and near whiteout conditions on the highway at the time of the crash though police have not said if weather was a factor.

The rollover happened in the same stretch of highway (between McConnell Avenue and Boundary Road) where two men were killed in a car-transport collision Tuesday morning and another tractor-trailer overturned on Monday night.
