Police arrest man in broom assault

CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is facing charges of assault and possession of a dangerous weapon for taking a broom to his girlfriend.

Police arrested the suspect, 47, on Tuesday.

Police allege the man went his 30-year-old girlfriend’s apartment and, while they were in an argument, struck her with a broom and then left with her cell phone.

Officers later located the man and charged him with theft, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

His name was not released in order to protect the victim.
